VIDEO: State of Emergency Declared Due to Flooding in Russia
Today, a state of emergency has been declared in the Altai Krai region due to the worsening flood situation in the area, reports the regional government’s press center.
According to the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, operational teams are currently working in Rubtsovsk, Mikhailovsky, and Shipunovsky districts. Explosive works are planned to be carried out on the Charish River in the territory of the village of Tugozvonovo in the Shipunovsky district to eliminate blockages.
Two temporary accommodation points have been established where about 70 people are located, including 22 children. Seven additional points are ready.
In total, 634 household plots and 87 homes, inhabited by 143 people, including 32 children, have been flooded in nine settlements of five urban formations. Eight sections of roads have been closed due to melting snow water. To prevent the consequences of the flooding, 234 people and 92 units of equipment are involved, including 80 people and 21 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
