The US Approves Transfer of Fighter Jets and Bombs to Israel
The United States has authorized the transfer of "billions of dollars" worth of fighter jets and bombs to Israel, despite concerns regarding an operation in Rafah in southern Gaza. This is reported by the Washington Post, citing its sources.
"The Biden administration in the US has allowed the transfer of billions of dollars' worth of bombs and fighter jets to Israel in recent days, despite Washington's concerns about the anticipated military assault in southern Gaza," the reporters write.
At the same time, the authors of the article note that some Democrats believe the US government should refrain from supplying weapons to Israel in the absence of commitments to protect the civilian population during the planned operation in Rafah.
Meanwhile, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that Israel's military operation in Rafah would lead to the country's further isolation in the international arena, causing former allies to turn away.
