Map and Gum: Zakharova Mocks German Foreign Minister's Words
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements of Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to RIA Novosti regarding claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly aims to draw NATO into conflict, suggested that she buy a map and a history textbook, reminding her about the expansion of the alliance.
Earlier, the Tagesspiegel newspaper reported that the German Foreign Minister stated in an interview with the Funke media group that “Putin's goal has been and remains the destruction of Ukraine as an independent free country and drawing NATO into war.”
“I would like to ask Baerbock: is she not aware that it is not Russian bases that surround NATO countries, but rather that NATO is expanding eastward along the perimeter of Russia? Someone should get Annalena a map, a history textbook, and some gum, so she can say: less of such nonsense,” Zakharova remarked.
