Lavrov on Russia-West Relations
Currently, there are practically no areas where Russia and the West can cooperate and engage in real communication. This was stated by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with Izvestia.
When asked about this, he replied, "Practically no." Lavrov noted that the current diplomatic relations between Russia and Western countries are aimed at supporting the work of diplomatic representatives.
"Now, all diplomacy with the West is as follows: we still have embassies there, they have embassies in Russia, and those embassies and consulates need to operate. Questions regarding the funding of diplomatic representations, procurement of facilities, vehicles, etc., are being discussed. The equipment necessary for their activities is being addressed," he announced, adding, "These issues now form the main content of our communications, particularly with the Americans."
Speaking about the difficulties in communication with the European Union regarding counter-terrorism efforts, the minister mentioned the existing challenges.
