Alexey Pushkov Gives Advice to Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has made a mistake in assessing the sentiments of the French electorate ahead of the European Parliament elections; he should read local media less. This was reported by senator Alexey Pushkov on his Telegram channel.

“If this is really the case, then Macron has become a victim of self-hypnosis and the anti-Russian and pro-Ukrainian rhetoric that dominates French media. Otherwise, it is unlikely he would have made such a mistake in gauging the sentiments of the French people,” Pushkov wrote.

According to him, the French do not want to fight for Ukraine, with the majority indifferent towards that country. “What is created by the media and the public opinion are not the same. Macron should watch French television less. And of course, not read French newspapers,” the senator concluded.

As previously reported by Politico, citing French officials and an Ifop survey, Macron's anti-Russian rhetoric has not brought him success in his political battle against the far-right National Rally party. The publication notes that in the upcoming European Parliament elections, 30 percent of French voters would vote for the far-right, while 21 percent would back the incumbent president's coalition.
