Chaos in the Anti-Corruption Commission: Employees Are Being Fired One by One
The newspaper "Joxovurd" reports that "there is chaos in the Anti-Corruption Commission. Employees are submitting their resignations one after another. Let's take a small step back and recall what happened at the end of last year around the Anti-Corruption Commission. On December 6, 2023, former chairperson Haykuhi Harutyunyan and commission member Narine Avetisyan were not elected after running for self-nomination and subsequently left the commission.
For nearly three months now, the commission has been without a president and a complete board. According to sources from "Joxovurd," the head of the commission's declaration analysis department, Karen Hakobyan, left his position in early March of this year. Reports indicate that many like him want to leave the commission, expressing dissatisfaction with both the low salaries for their positions and the unproductive nature of the complex and intellectually demanding work.
We have also learned that alongside the challenging tasks, there is no proposal to increase the staffing list, and the remuneration for work done is significantly inadequate. This indicates that authorities have temporarily frozen the elections for the president and members of the commission to find a chairperson who aligns with their interests, potentially in order to exact political revenge against critics and to allow the commission to overlook the corruption of officials from the ruling party.
The situation evidences that the ruling party does not have a preferred candidate who can easily cover up their own corrupt actions.
