Six Dead in Baltimore Bridge Collapse
It is believed that six people have died following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, according to NBC News, citing Jeffrey Pritsker, the executive vice president of Brawner Builders. One person has been rescued, Pritsker stated. He did not provide further details.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore recently expressed hope that the crew of a cargo vessel that collided with the bridge could be saved.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge, which spans the Patapsco River, collapsed on March 26. A cargo ship flagged from Singapore struck the bridge’s foundation. Following the collision, the ship caught fire and sank.
The Baltimore Fire Department reported that seven construction workers were on site at the time of the incident. Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency in the area.
