Peskov Discusses Armenian-Russian Relations
The Press Secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, expressed hope that political will would prevail in continuing the development of relations with Armenia. He made this statement in an interview with aif.ru, addressing Armenian-Russian relations.
“Right now, we are in a rather complicated period concerning our friendly, brotherly relations with Armenia. It’s even more than brotherly, as there are more Armenians living in Russia than in Armenia itself. Interestingly, the economic activity of Armenian citizens in Russia significantly contributes to the gross budget of Armenia,” Peskov noted, adding that people transfer large amounts of money to Armenia, amounting to several billion dollars annually.
Moreover, he reminded that the Caucasus region is currently attracting the attention of various external powers, which impacts the relations of states in that region with Russia. “We are confident that the participation of these powers should be strictly limited as they are incapable of bringing stability and prosperity to the region,” he said.
