Pashinyan Discusses the Process of Normalizing Relations Between Armenia and Turkey
In an interview with the Greek publication Еkathimerini, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey.
"Turkey is a regional player, and it is natural to expect that it should have a balanced position regarding various developments in the region. Little attention is not paid to Turkey's official rhetoric, which can both promote and threaten a number of processes. Armenia, on the other hand, expects that Turkey's rhetoric will not be aimed at increasing regional tension but will contribute to fostering dialogue and cooperation in the region.
As you know, Armenia and Turkey have initiated a process aimed at comprehensive normalization of relations, establishing diplomatic relations between the countries, and fully opening the interstate border. Within the framework of this process, an agreement has been reached to open the land border between Armenia and Turkey for citizens of third countries and individuals holding diplomatic passports. We genuinely believe that the implementation of this agreement will also have a positive impact on regional dynamics," Pashinyan stated.
According to the Prime Minister, the ongoing developments between Greece and Turkey once again confirm that it is possible to overcome disagreements and form a mutually beneficial agenda of cooperation between neighbors.
