Bortnikov on the Threat of Terrorist Attacks in Russia

The threat of terrorist acts in Russian territory remains. This was reported to journalists by the Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bortnikov.

“Yes, unfortunately, that is the case,” he stated.

Bortnikov made several other statements as well. He announced that Ukrainian special services assisted in the terrorist act that took place in Crocus, which was prepared by radical Islamists.

During a conversation with reporters, the Director of the FSB noted that the perpetrator of the terrorist act in Crocus has yet to be identified. Bortnikov revealed that the circle of individuals involved in the terrorism case would expand, and the number of accomplices would increase. It is noted that there are currently 11 individuals who have been detained and arrested.

“The Russian Federation has done everything to prevent the participants in the Crocus terrorist act from crossing the border into Ukraine,” Bortnikov stated.

Bortnikov also added that the United States has shared general information with the Russian Federation regarding the possibility of terrorist acts, and Russia has taken this into account.

He further mentioned that there is information indicating Ukraine has been preparing militants in the Middle East.
