Death Toll in Crocus Reaches 139, Including 3 Children, Investigative Committee Reports
The death toll from the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall has reached 139, announced Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. "As a result of the attack, 139 people have died, the identities of 75 of whom have been established today. Among the deceased are three children. Of the total number, 137 died at the scene of the attack, and two succumbed to their injuries in medical facilities," Bastrykin stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
He noted that 40 individuals died from gunshot wounds, while two others died from a combination of gunshot and knife wounds. "Due to the fire, 45 people died from high temperatures and the effects of burning products, and 182 individuals have been injured with varying degrees of severity," Bastrykin added.
The terrorist act occurred on the evening of March 22 at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, when several individuals opened fire on concertgoers and set the hall on fire. The Investigative Committee is investigating the incident under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code.
The following day, the Kremlin's press service reported that Alexander Bortnikov, head of the FSB, informed Putin that 11 suspects had been arrested, including all four terrorists directly involved in the attack. The latter were apprehended by a decision of the Moscow Basmanny Court on March 24.
On Monday, the Moscow Basmanny Court sanctioned the detention of three more defendants in the case, namely the Islomov brothers, Aminchon and Dilovar, along with their father, Isroil Islomov.
