Why is Nikol Pashinyan Going to Moscow?
The newspaper "Past" reports that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the anniversary summit of the EAEU will be held in Moscow on May 8. It should be noted that this year Armenia holds the presidency of the EAEU.
According to information from the "Past" newspaper, Nikol Pashinyan will travel to Moscow to participate in the EAEU anniversary summit. Our sources indicate that this issue has become a subject of heated discussions at recent meetings of the ruling Civil Contract party. Some members of the party have expressed concern about whether it makes sense to participate in the EAEU summit, especially since there has been no participation in various forums of the CSTO and CIS.
According to our sources, Pashinyan remarked that not attending this meeting as the presiding country would be "inappropriate" and could have severe consequences, including economic ones. He particularly pointed out that "they might turn off the gas and electricity." He provided a few other explanations and made it clear that he has a firm decision to attend this summit.
