Video: Discussion on Changing the Road, Says Novyemberyan Deputy Mayor
The discussion concerns four Azerbaijani villages that are currently under our control. Together with our villagers, we have articulated our demands. The border demarcation, as we envision it and as Azerbaijan does, will create vital issues for both the village of Voskepar and Armenia in general. We have reached an agreement with the Government to establish a working group from the community to participate in the tasks of the border demarcation and delimitation commissions.
This was stated today, March 22, in an interview with NEWS.am by Novyemberyan Deputy Mayor Mher Aghamyan. He noted that the Prime Minister promised the villagers to consider their demands and find solutions for them.
“Such issues are not resolved in 3 or 5 days; negotiations are ongoing. The demands will be formalized, and we will be informed in response. This could be in 6 months, 7 months, or even a year later. I do not know exactly,” said Mher Aghamyan, responding to a question regarding the timeframe set by the Government for fulfilling the villagers' demands.
The Novyemberyan Deputy Mayor struggled to answer whether the transfer of village territories would compromise our defensive line, explaining that he is not a military specialist. However, he emphasized again that the transfer of territories would create security problems for the residents of Voskepar village.
“This is a road of national significance; of course, problems could arise. There is discussion about changing the road. But this is not a matter that can be resolved in a few days; it will take a long time,” added Mher Aghamyan.
