Lawyer Provides Details on the Arrest of Samsonyan and Saghatelyan

This is a classic case of political persecution, as the individuals are being accused for voicing strong criticism against the authorities regarding the surrender of villages in Tavush. This was stated by lawyer Ruben Melikyan on his Facebook page, commenting on the arrest of Narek Samsonyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan.

“Update on the ‘Imnemnim’ case:
1) Narek Samsonyan has been taken to the Shengavit Court. The judge registration process is underway. It is still unknown who the judge is or the time of the session. The session is likely to be scheduled within the next 2-3 hours.
2) Vazgen Saghatelyan is still at the Yerevan investigative body. Charges are being brought against him. He will also be transferred to Shengavit Court soon. Vazgen's defense has been taken over by Arsen Babayan (according to the law, the same lawyer cannot have more than one defendant in the same case).
3) The boys are charged for remarks made during the 11-58 minute marks of ‘Imnemnim 83’. See the release link below.
4) This is a classic political persecution because the boys are being accused of making strong critical remarks against the authorities due to the surrender of the villages in Tavush,” he wrote.
