Details of the Investigation into the Murder of an Informatics College Student

The criminal investigation initiated regarding the murder of a student from the "Yerevan State College of Informatics" continues at the Investigative Department of the Arabkir Administrative District of the RA Investigative Committee.

It is reminded that the 17-year-old victim, who had been in a hostile relationship for an extended period with the suspect in connection with a personal matter, sustained life-threatening bodily injuries on March 12 of this year, around 11:30 AM, near 52/3 Mamikonyants Street in Yerevan.

As a result of investigative actions undertaken within the framework of the case, several circumstances of significant importance for the investigation have been clarified, including the identities of two other individuals who participated in the incident. These individuals are friends of the 21-year-old suspect, who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

As a result of joint actions by investigators and officers of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the friends and the 21-year-old suspect were discovered, presented to the prosecuting authority, and arrested. Through the investigative actions taken, the actions of each individual have been personalized, and legal evaluations have been provided.

Extensive measures undertaken by the pre-investigation authority have revealed the identity of the individual who inflicted bodily injuries on the victim using a baseball bat during the incident, who is another friend of the 21-year-old suspect. Public criminal proceedings have been initiated against him under Part 3 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code, and he has been announced as wanted.

New circumstances have also emerged during the investigation, particularly information indicating that there had been previous incidents between the parties, which served as the motive for the revenge murder of the 17-year-old teenager. Investigative, evidentiary, and procedural measures are being undertaken regarding these prior incidents and others that occurred in the period leading up to the event.

During the investigation, a search was conducted at the home of the 21-year-old accused, in accordance with the law, during which a folding knife allegedly used in the crime and a wooden baseball bat with dried blood-like stains, as well as clothing with dried blood-like stains, were found. Necessary measures are being taken to ascertain other details of the incident, including confrontational interrogations, inspections of recordings, and forensic biological examinations previously ordered, as well as medical forensic, biological, fingerprint, complex medical-forensic, and trace forensic examinations.

Based on sufficient evidence collected, charges have been brought against the 21-year-old individual under Subparagraph 5 of Part 2 of Article 155 and Part 3 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code, while the aforementioned friend has been charged under Part 3 of Article 297. A motion has been submitted to the court requesting the detention of the 21-year-old individual as a preventive measure, which has been granted. House arrest has been applied as a preventive measure for his friend.

The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to identify the other individuals involved in the incident, locate them, and present them to the prosecuting authority. Instructions have been given to the relevant unit of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct operational-investigative measures aimed at locating the wanted person and acquiring other data relevant to the investigation.
