Dense Fog, Snow, Closed Roads: The Situation in the Republic

As of 20:00 on March 21, due to heavy snowfall and drifting snow, the Vardenyats Pass is closed to vehicles with trailers, while other vehicles can pass with difficulty. This was reported by the Road Department.

“There has been a rockfall on the M-2-Gndevaz-Jermuk road (km 2+000 section), with a volume of about 500 meters in depth. Due to cleaning works and for safety reasons, the mentioned road section is closed.

There is fog in the Dilijan bends, with visibility reduced to 70 meters. In the Goris region, there is also dense fog, reducing visibility to 5-15 meters. Snow is falling in the regions of Aparan, Aragat, Hrazdan, Sevan, Gavar, Jambarak, Vardenis, Jermuk, Sisian, Artik, Ashotzk, and on the Saravan Pass,” the statement reads.

It is noted that other interstate and republican roads are open. Road construction workers are carrying out cleaning and salting with sand on the roads.

“To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires,” the media writes.
