Moscow is in contact with the Armenian side regarding the broadcasting of Russian television channels. Consultations are ongoing between the parties, but the exchange of ideas is not yet complete. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing.

Earlier, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Mikayel Hayrapetyan, announced that the ministry would make new proposals to Russian partners to eliminate broadcasts containing anti-Armenian content.

“We are in contact with the Armenian side to resolve the issue of broadcasting Russian channels in the republic, we have received their developments and passed on ours,” Zakharova said.

According to her, the task of both sides is to address all problematic issues and resolve the emerging problems with mutual respect. She emphasized that representatives participating in such communications should focus on this goal.

It should be recalled that consultations are planned in Moscow in the near future within the framework of the bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of mass communication signed in 2020. The purpose of the agreement is to exclude broadcasts from both countries that could interfere in internal affairs or offend the state and people of the other country.

Such discussions have already taken place at the initiative of the Armenian side in December 2023. The Armenian delegation was represented by Deputy Minister of High Technologies Avet Poghosyan, while the Russian side was represented by Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications Bella Cherkesova.
