Video: NATO Secretary General Provoked Next to Armenian Prime Minister, Says Marukyan

The NATO Secretary General standing alongside the Armenian Prime Minister was provoking, said Edmon Marukyan, the former ambassador with special assignments and leader of the Bright Armenia party, regarding the Secretary General's visit to Armenia on March 20.

“In a situation where the unilateral implementation of Azerbaijan's demands is being discussed in Armenia, specifically regarding the border demarcation in the Tavush region—which is a one-sided process, meaning that Azerbaijan does not accept any maps or lines that would allow them to withdraw from that territory—therefore, there is a sense of injustice among the people. Why is it one-sided, why do they not recognize any lines, and withdraw only Armenia? In these conditions, the NATO Secretary General comes to Armenia, who also visited Azerbaijan, and announces that he supports Armenia's territorial integrity, peace. However, he cannot tell Azerbaijan's Ilham Aliyev: 'You accepted a statement in Prague concerning mutual recognition, thus you mutually recognized the administrative borders of the Soviet Union, and they cannot be unilaterally redrawn only for Armenia. You have occupied 215 square kilometers of territory, vital roads of 31 villages, pastures, reservoirs—get out of those territories,'” he said.

He added, “Aside from throwing countries into war, has NATO taken any other actions? What does it mean that 'Armenia must decide to become a NATO member'? This means become a platform for war to occur in your territory, be slaughtered, we will applaud your bravery, we will support you, send a few missiles or not, but you will be slaughtered. They will discuss and then decide that it is not worth Armenia becoming a NATO member, but we will support you.”

Marukyan also noted that the NATO Secretary General was provoking while standing next to the Armenian Prime Minister: “He was saying that Putin should not win the war. Brother, you are making such statements in the territory of Armenia, are we to gain a new enemy for Armenia? Are you aware of the challenges that Armenia faces? Armenia is facing those challenges alone.”
