VIDEO. "It's unlikely that scaring the population is the best approach" - Zakharova on Pashinyan's statements
It is unlikely that frightening one's own population is the best way for Armenia to achieve favorable results. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a briefing, commenting on the statement made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan said during a meeting with residents of the village of Voskepat in the Tavush region that there might be a war by the end of the week if the Armenian side refuses to discuss border delimitation and demarcation issues with Azerbaijan.
“These issues need to be resolved calmly and constructively; the mechanism is in place – it is the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation commission. We are ready to assist in this work, taking into account our experience. The work should be carried out within the framework of this structure, based on the aforementioned principles,” stated Zakharova.
According to her, the statements made by the Prime Minister of Armenia should not be associated with Russia in any way; they reflect solely what the country's leadership has decided while engaging with the West.
“It is desirable that those who make decisions in Yerevan bear full responsibility for all their actions under the influence of the West,” said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Maria Zakharova noted that the Russian side has communicated this, including through bilateral channels.
