Lars Closed for Trucks

The road through the "Upper Lars" crossing point from Georgia to Russia (Georgian-Russian border) has been closed for large trucks.

This is reported by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. The statement reads, "Due to snow and low temperatures, the movement of vehicles with trailers and semi-trailers is prohibited in the Gudauri-Kobi section."

Traffic is open for passenger cars in the Mleta-Gudauri and Gudauri-Kobi sections, but only through tunnels that protect against avalanches.

The military road is currently the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia. It is periodically closed due to bad weather.
