Armenia Extradites 8 Prisoners to Iran
Armenia has extradited eight Iranian prisoners to Iran. According to reports from the Armenian news agency Armenpress, the Iranian prisoners will continue to serve their sentences in Iran.
Additionally, Japan has also extradited another Iranian prisoner. “The extradition process was carried out as a result of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in accordance with agreements with Yerevan and Tokyo,” stated Askar Jalalian, the deputy of the Iranian Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs.
The Iranian parliament ratified a bill on the extradition of criminals with Armenia in 2016. It has been noted that the majority of Iranians imprisoned abroad have been convicted for possession of illegal drugs during their travels.
