UN Announces Continued Collaboration with New Russian Government

The UN will continue to collaborate with the Russian government as it takes shape. This was announced by Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, while commenting on the results of the presidential elections held in Russia.

"We generally do not comment on elections; however, we will continue to work with the Russian government and will do so going forward," he stated.

Haq added that the UN will implement "standard procedures" once the cabinet is formed. He was asked whether UN Secretary-General António Guterres intends to reach out to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Once the government is formed, we will apply standard procedures regarding cooperation with the government," Haq replied.
