Terrorist Attack Averted on Crimea Railway: What is Known

A terrorist attack has been averted in Crimea. A Ukrainian special services agent has been arrested, who was planning to set fire to the railway relay station to disrupt military transport operations. This was reported today by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

According to the statement, "As a result of measures taken in Simferopol, a 1999-born Russian citizen was detained, who was preparing to carry out a terrorist act on the instruction of Ukrainian special services by setting fire to the relay station of the 'Crimea Railway' state enterprise, with the aim of disrupting military transportation."

It was noted that homemade incendiary devices and communication tools containing correspondence with a Ukrainian coordinator were seized from the detainee.

A criminal case has been initiated for the preparation of a terrorist act. The FSB has also averted terrorist attacks in Moscow and Karelia.

Evidence is being documented regarding a woman's involvement in state treason. Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code provides for life imprisonment for this crime.
