Russian Troop Successes in Ukraine Will Further Weaken the U.S., Antonov

The United States, by providing assistance to Kyiv, is destroying the remnants of its former reputation, and the successes of Russian troops in Ukraine will only contribute to Washington's increasing weakening, said Anatoly Antonov, the Russian Ambassador to the U.S., in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"My third point of analysis characterizes America's role in the Ukrainian conflict as extremely negative. A sponsor of terrorism. A country encouraging killings and war. A country that is destroying its former reputation itself. The more our movement advances on the front, the weaker America will become, and the rules-based world order will collapse," said the senior Russian diplomat.

Antonov emphasized that claims from Washington alleging that Moscow is unwilling to engage in dialogue regarding Ukraine do not correspond to reality. As the Ambassador pointed out, had the parties to the conflict implemented the Istanbul agreements agreed upon in 2022, it would have been possible to avoid the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians on the battlefield.

"Everything could have been resolved peacefully. However, that was not favorable to the leadership of NATO countries, primarily the U.S. and the UK," the interlocutor added.
