Allies to Increase Weapons Supplies to Ukraine

Members of the "Weimar Triangle" group have agreed to increase the supply of weapons to Kyiv, while the European Commission has allocated an additional €500 million for the production of shells.

The leaders of Germany, France, and Poland announced concrete measures regarding the increase and acceleration of arms supplies to Ukraine from the EU.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday as part of the so-called "Weimar Triangle" group. According to him, they have agreed on four priorities, including the purchase of a larger quantity of weapons from the global market.

The German Chancellor stated that the production of military equipment will be expanded, including through collaboration with partners in Ukraine. "We are creating a new coalition for long-range artillery capabilities within the framework of the 'Ramstein' format. We will also increase our support within the EU," said Scholz.

The French President also remarked, "The fact that we united as three on that day, we clearly defined the situation in Ukraine and decisively resolved to never allow Russia to win and to support the Ukrainian people to the end. That is our strength," said Emmanuel Macron.

On Friday, the European Commission allocated €500 million to increase the production of artillery shells. The EU had promised to supply Ukraine with one million shells but failed to meet the declared target.
