VIDEO: The family has no children, but has a mortgage. Pashinyan's statement sparked laughter
The government is discussing a state support program for housing provision aimed at families with children, which will help these families in obtaining mortgage loans. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs David Khachatryan stated that the beneficiaries of this program can be those who have at least two minor children, and the ownership rights to the acquired real estate must be registered in the name of the beneficiary and their spouse.
Referring to the program, Nikol Pashinyan said, “First, let’s start with families that do not have children; this program is not about them. Those who have 1 child, this program is not about them either. But those who are planning to have a second child, this program is already about them, am I correct?”
In response, the deputy minister stated, “If the family has no children but has an ongoing mortgage, in the case of a child being born, the program is indeed about them.”
Continuing, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized, “That is to say, the family has no children but has a mortgage, in that case, when the first child is born, we provide a one-time amount equal to 10% of the remaining mortgage loan, but not exceeding 500,000 drams. For the first child born, our payment related to the birth of the child is 300,000 drams, and if they have a mortgage loan to repay, we provide a one-time payment equal to 10% of it, but not exceeding 500,000 drams.”
