Europe is "Surrounded by a Ring of Fire": Borrell

Fighting in Ukraine has been compared by the EU's chief diplomat Josep Borrell to the "Star Wars" film series. According to him, artificial intelligence, drones, and communications systems are crucial in the conflict.

“Artificial intelligence, drones, telecommunications systems. This is a mixture of classic high-intensity warfare with heavy artillery fire... and a bit of 'Star Wars', meaning there is a lot of electronics, and now there is artificial intelligence,” Borrell stated during an interview on Spanish RNE radio.

He also added that Europe is "surrounded by a ring of fire." Borrell clarified that while the EU is not at war, it is under threat. He explained that after the 2008 crisis, the European Union began a disarmament process and currently lacks significant military equipment.
