Putin Reveals Reason Behind Macron's Sharp Response
The sharp response of French President Emmanuel Macron towards the Russian Federation may be linked to the events occurring in Africa. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Dmitry Kiselev for "Rossiya 1" and RIA Novosti.
The journalist asked the head of state whether the anti-Russian statements from the French side could be a form of retaliation for Russia having "torn France's tail" in the African continent. In Putin's view, official Paris has some grievances. “But when he (Macron) and I maintained direct contacts, we discussed this topic quite openly,” the Russian leader added.
In March, Florian Philippot, the leader of the French party “Patriots,” stated that the French president is trying to show strength, but all of Russia is laughing at him for his fear of going to Kyiv.
Previously, Macron had stated that Russia is acting “aggressively” towards Europe by inciting crises in Africa and creating cybersecurity threats. Earlier, Macron had also spoken about Putin’s “paradox.”
