Peskov Comments on Pashinyan's Statement
The Kremlin has heard the statements made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the possibility of Armenia withdrawing from the CSTO. Significant work lies ahead, and communication is necessary to clarify the situation. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov.
“Of course, we have heard those statements. It is evident that significant work is expected now, and we need communication both within the CSTO framework and at the bilateral level with our Armenian partners. We will clarify and discuss in accordance with the relevant statements made by the Prime Minister,” Peskov told reporters.
When asked how the CSTO responds to Pashinyan's statements, Peskov indicated that the Kremlin cannot speak on behalf of the organization. “Of course, there is certain work to be done within the CSTO framework,” he concluded.
Earlier, Pashinyan had stated that Armenia would exit the CSTO if the organization does not respond to the questions raised by Yerevan regarding the country's sovereign territory.
