Life Shows That the ‘No Inch of Land’ Approach Was Not Maximism, but a Necessity – Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan

Life shows that the ‘no inch of land’ approach was not maximism, but a necessity; I am also committed to this principle. This was stated by Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, the leader of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, in an interview with a NEWS.am correspondent.

“The phase of ceding Armenian territories will stop when the Turks decide. But the Turks will not stop, because, unlike the Armenians, they are committed to the principle of ‘no inch of land.’ The current powers mocked those Armenians who adhered to this approach in the past. Well, let them try to mock the Azerbaijanis who are committed to the ‘no inch of land’ principle now,” the cleric said.

“Armenians still do not understand that if your neighbor is committed to this approach, then you have to be committed to it as well. Is peace possible with neighbors who want to destroy you? If the authorities believe that, then let them call for us to cede these four villages to a country that is larger than ours.”

“Peace is only possible if you are strong; otherwise, peace is impossible,” the spiritual leader emphasized.
