70-Year-Old Shakro Molodoy Released Early from Krasnodar Prison
The Ust-Labinsk District Court in Krasnodar Krai has granted the request for conditional early release by Zakhar Kalashov, better known as Shakro Molodoy. This was reported by Kommersant-Kuban, citing the Unified Press Service of the Regional Courts.
The court considered Kalashov's request in a closed session. The decision for his release was made due to complaints regarding the inmate's health condition. However, the specific date for Kalashov's release from prison has not been disclosed.
According to the 112 Telegram channel, the 70-year-old Kalashov has repeatedly sought conditional early release due to his deteriorating health. In early March 2024, forensic expert and associate professor at the Urals State Law University Danil Sergeyev suggested that Kalashov might face criminal liability again after his release from prison. The expert noted that Shakro Molodoy has been charged with “holding the highest position in a criminal hierarchy” under Article 210.1 of the Russian Criminal Code.
Zakhar Kalashov holds citizenship of both Russia and Georgia. He was crowned as a ‘thief-in-law’ in 1971 while in prison. After surviving several assassination attempts in the late 1990s, Kalashov emigrated to Spain. In June 2010, a court in Madrid sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison and a fine of €20 million for money laundering and establishing a criminal organization. Kalashov was extradited to Russia at the end of 2014.
