Yerevan Informs Moscow About Halting Russian Border Guards' Operations at Zvartnots, Peskov Says
The Russian Federation has received a notification from Armenia regarding the cessation of operations by Russian border guards at the Zvartnots airport, and communications with Yerevan are ongoing. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, during a conversation with reporters in response to a TASS query.
“Indeed, an official letter has been received in this regard, and communications between the agencies are currently taking place. I cannot say more at this time,” Peskov commented while discussing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement about the Russian border guards at the airport.
The Kremlin representative added, “Of course, communications will continue at all possible levels.”
On Tuesday, Pashinyan announced that the border guards had informed their Russian counterparts that the Armenian side could operate at the Zvartnots airport without their assistance. Earlier, the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, also stated that Yerevan had sent an official letter to Moscow regarding the termination of the activities of Russian border guards at Zvartnots.
