VIDEO: Nikol Pashinyan on the Handing Over of Villages in Tavush Province
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a press conference that there has never been and cannot be any discussion about handing over any village in Tavush Province. "When names of villages are mentioned in the Azerbaijani press, it should be noted that there have never been villages by those names in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, not only during the Soviet era but also after it," he said.
Pashinyan presented a map, saying: This is the Republic of Armenia, and added an extra point regarding the enclaves. "Let us establish clearly which territories belong to the Republic of Armenia so that we can accurately state where Azerbaijan has territorial claims over Armenia and where it does not. Let us forget Azerbaijan and start from our own position. There has never been, nor can there be, any discussion about villages in Tavush Province," the Prime Minister stated, responding to the question about the villages claimed by Azerbaijan in Tavush.
According to the Prime Minister, discussions should be based on the de jure realities. Pashinyan also spoke about border delimitation and demarcation efforts, emphasizing that he does not rule out the possibility that the delimitation process may begin from Tavush. He mentioned that he plans to visit Tavush Province to be informed about potential issues on the ground: "At this moment, we do not have decisions. But I think we should manage this overall process with that logic."
