Russian Border Troops Given Deadline Until August 1
Julya
Armenia has officially informed the Russian side of its intention to independently carry out border control at Zvartnots Airport starting August 1. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference today. Earlier, he had stated that the Armenian side expressed gratitude to the Russian side for their support and indicated that it can manage border control on its own.
“We did not appeal to the Russian Federation but informed them of our decision, and the deadline is, as I recall, set for August 1, 2024,” said Pashinyan. He emphasized that Armenia views this step as a working process, not a geopolitical or purely political one.
