Prosecutor's Office Seeks to Confiscate Property and Funds from Former Aragatsotn Governor and Ex-MP

The Anti-Corruption Court has accepted three lawsuits on the confiscation of illegally acquired property for February 27, March 5, and March 7, 2024 (the number of accepted lawsuits is 102).

In particular:

  1. The Property Confiscation Division of the Prosecutor General's Office has filed a claim with the court to confiscate the following from former Aragatsotn Governor Sargis Sahakyan and a connected person in favor of the Republic of Armenia:
    • 4 real estate properties;
    • 1 vehicle;
    • 1 billion 121 million 258 thousand drams, which is not substantiated by the person’s legal income, has illegal origins, and has been transferred to a bona fide purchaser or cannot be identified and confiscated;
    • 133 thousand drams as the remaining income received from the use of illegally obtained property.
  2. The Property Confiscation Division has also filed a claim against former Chief Accountant of the National Center for Infectious Diseases Ishkhan Vahradyan and a connected person to confiscate for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia:
    • 1 right to purchase real estate;
    • 1 vehicle;
    • The illegal part of a loan demand granted to “Lux Capital” LLC amounting to 4 million 267 thousand drams;
    • 2 billion 254 million 304 thousand drams, representing illegal origins, not substantiated by legal income, transferred from 2004 to 2022 to a bona fide purchaser or cannot be identified and confiscated;
    • 744 million 846 thousand drams as the remaining from illegal income and resources.
  3. The Division has additionally filed a claim against former National Assembly MP Nairi Sahakyan and a connected person to confiscate for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia:
    • 3 real estate properties;
    • 1 vehicle;
    • Participation in a legal entity, which amounts to 71 percent of the current market value of a residential house in Vahagni district;
    • 602 million 789 thousand drams, which is not substantiated by the person's legal income, has illegal origins, and has been transferred to a bona fide purchaser or cannot be identified and confiscated;
    • 371 million 783 thousand drams as the remaining income received from the use of illegally obtained property.
