Video: Agreements Signed Between Armenia and Egypt

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on an official visit to Egypt, met with the country’s president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. First, there was a private conversation between the leaders of the two countries, followed by discussions in an expanded format.

The President of Egypt welcomed Prime Minister Pashinyan's official visit and emphasized that it would provide a new impetus for the development and expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Egypt and Armenia. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi highlighted the long-standing close ties between the Armenian and Egyptian peoples, adding that the Armenian community in Egypt plays a unique role in the development of various sectors.

Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the warm reception, stating that the Government of Armenia is interested in expanding and deepening ties with Egypt. He emphasized the importance of enhancing and deepening trade and economic cooperation and highlighted the need for the development of business connections in utilizing the existing potential.

The Prime Minister and the President of Egypt discussed a number of issues related to the implementation of new joint projects in the economy, infrastructure, tourism, air communication, high technology, agriculture, environment, education, and culture sectors. They also addressed questions regarding processes occurring in the South Caucasus and the Middle East regions, emphasizing the importance of reinforcing peace and stability and taking consistent steps in that direction.

Prime Minister Pashinyan provided details to his Egyptian counterpart about the discussions related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty and remarked on the Armenian side's principled positions. There was also a reference to the Armenian Government's “Peace Crossroad” project and its principles. Pashinyan addressed the humanitarian issues faced by individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and the government's steps to address these challenges.

Following the meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, a ceremony for signing documents took place in the presence of the two countries' leaders. In particular, a memorandum of understanding on economic cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Armenia and the Ministry of International Cooperation of Egypt. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Raphael Gevorgyan and Egypt's Minister of International Development Cooperation Rania El Mashat.

Additionally, an implementation program for scientific and technical cooperation in the agricultural sector for 2024-2026 was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Armenia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt, signed by Gevorgyan and Egypt's Minister of Agriculture El Sayyed El Kaser. A memorandum of understanding concerning cooperation in environmental protection was also signed between the Ministry of Environment of Armenia and the Ministry of Environment of Egypt.
