Photos: Participant of the 44-Day War Surrenders Large Quantity of Weapons and Ammunition Brought from the Conflict
On March 1, operational information was received at the Dilijan police department that a resident of Dilijan, who participated in the 44-day war, had brought back a large quantity of weapons and ammunition. This was reported by Shamshyan.
As a result of explanatory work carried out by police, the citizen confirmed the information and shortly thereafter informed the police that he had left the weapons in the area known as “Ubiki Gorge” in Dilijan city.
Investigators from the Tavush regional department of the police, the police department of Dilijan, and the Dilijan investigative division of the Tavush regional investigative committee, subsequently proceeded to the indicated location. After a period of investigative efforts, they discovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition beneath a tree next to a talkative spot pointed out by the citizen.
According to reports, the cache included 1 AK-74 type automatic rifle, 2 automatic rifles without factory serial numbers, 6 empty magazines, 3 loaded magazines, 1 half-loaded magazine, 1 Toz type shotgun without factory serial number, 1 hunting smoothbore double-barreled shotgun, 1 dismantled smoothbore double-barreled shotgun, 1 smoothbore single-barreled hunting gun, Izh 18E type shotgun, 1 unmarked double-barreled shotgun, 1 Ekolo T 299 mm pistol with magazine, 2 artillery detonators, 1 grenade launcher grenade, 8 incendiary grenades, 13 signal cartridges, 78 grenade fuses, 8 21 cm grenades, 3 F grenades, 1 1942 grenade, 11 metallic cylindrical/ grenade-like components, 179 homemade explosives, 93 12.7 mm cartridges, 2932 various types and calibers of cartridges, 1 smoke device, and a bag of yellowish powder-like substance.
It has been reported that a criminal case has been initiated in the Dilijan investigative division based on the facts of this incident.
