Driver Exits Bus with Over 30 Passengers; Bus Rolls Forward, Breaking Trees
On March 1, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 20:50, 70-year-old Hambardzum Akhrabyan, a resident of Yerevan, parked a "Hyundai" bus servicing line 42, which is registered with the Yerevan Municipality, on Davit Bek Street and exited the vehicle. According to Shamshyan.com, the driver had not engaged the handbrake, causing the bus, with over 30 passengers aboard, to roll forward approximately 150 meters.
The bus collided with basalt curbs opposite the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University and ended up on the green lawn, breaking two trees. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
Officers Robert Yeghiazaryan and David Movsisyan from the Yerevan City Police's Patrol Service were dispatched to the scene. Documentation regarding the incident is being prepared at the 1st battalion of the Yerevan City Police. Emergency medical teams also arrived at the scene to assist several passengers, but they declined to go to the hospital.
