Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Protests Against European Parliament Resolution
The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan has "strongly condemned" the provisions reflected in the annual report adopted by the European Parliament on February 28, describing them as "biased and one-sided from the perspective of international law and justice."
According to Azerbaijani lawmakers, the fact that the resolutions were passed alongside negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Berlin raises doubts about Europe's interest in peace in the South Caucasus.
"For European parliamentarians calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan are less important than those of Armenia," the document from the Milli Majlis states.
Once again, the European Union has been accused from Baku of intending to escalate the situation in the region and obstruct the peace process. Azerbaijani lawmakers noted that the document adopted by the European Parliament holds no significance for their country.
