VIDEO: We received an inquiry from Russia regarding the Azerbaijani murderer and responded the same day, says Vahe Ghazaryan

I cannot answer that question until we have fully carried out our functions lawfully. They made an inquiry; we responded and did not delay. This was stated today, on February 26, in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly by Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, addressing the issue of how he assesses the fact that a suspect in the murder of a Russian citizen of Armenian descent, who is wanted internationally, was handed over to Baku within a few hours.

“This is a procedure from which we did not deviate. If they catch a criminal, they inquire from us, and we also respond as to whether he is indeed wanted by us or not. We are obliged to respond to any inquiry regarding individuals for whom international warrants have been issued. The same goes for them. We received it the same day and responded immediately,” he said, unable to answer the question of whether at the moment they were sending a response to Russia, the Azerbaijani had already been released.

“We also have similar fugitives who have been caught and released; you are probably aware of that too. Well, the Russian side should answer that,” the Minister added. He noted that they had not received any inquiries from Russia regarding former head of the NSS, Mihran Poghosyan.

Recall that on February 21, an Azerbaijani citizen, Kamil Zeynalov, was arrested in Russia and then released and traveled to Baku. Earlier, Zeynalov had published a video on social media stating that he was detained at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport and taken to a police station. He also mentioned that Russian law enforcement officials notified him that Armenia had issued an international wanted notice against him and that he would stand before a Russian court the next day and could be handed over to Armenia. Later, the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that there was an interstate wanted notice issued against the Azerbaijani detained in Moscow for murder.
