Tunyan on Early Parliamentary Elections in Armenia
There is no question of conducting early parliamentary elections in Armenia. This was stated by Babken Tunyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, during a press briefing in the National Assembly.
“Such a question is not on the agenda. In my opinion, the more we can avoid early elections, the better it will be. Early elections bring uncertainty, expectations in the economy, and shocks. It is better to have a National Assembly that will exhaust its mandate from start to finish,” said Tunyan.
In response to a journalist's remark that Nikol Pashinyan became Prime Minister in 2021 not only because there were guarantees regarding the Artsakh issue in the campaign program, but also because he raised the issue of the de-occupation of Hadrut and Shushi, the Civil Contract MP emphasized that Pashinyan became Prime Minister because the citizens of Armenia chose the ruling force.
“As for why, we will leave that for the next elections and see how alterations in programmatic provisions and other factors will affect the elections,” said Tunyan.
It should be noted that early parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on June 20, 2021.
