South Korean Authorities Threaten to Suspend Licenses of Protesting Doctors
South Korean authorities have advised protesting medical interns and residents to return to work by February 29, or they will begin to suspend their licenses. This was stated by Park Min-soon, the Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea.
“I urge you to return to work by the end of this month. Starting in March, those who do not return to work will inevitably face legal proceedings that will result in a suspension of their licenses for at least three months, according to existing laws and guidelines,” Min-soon said during a press briefing.
“Please note that the reason for the license suspension will be indicated in documents, which may affect your career, even if you are employed abroad,” the deputy minister added. He stated that authorities would begin opening cases and conducting investigations in March.
