Prisoner Stitches Lips and Joins Them Together with a Needle in Vanadzor Jail

On February 21, the Lori regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Article 162, Part 2, Clause 6 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

According to shamshyan.com, the case was initiated due to the actions of prisoner Armen Z. who was held in cell No. 01 of the Vanadzor Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice. It was reported that on February 18, he stitched his lips together using a needle (bülavka). Sources indicate that on February 9, he had previously stitched his lips for the reason that he wanted to be transferred to another correctional facility.
