EU to Transfer First 4.5 Billion Euros to Ukraine in March Under New Aid Program

The European Union will transfer the first 4.5 billion euros to Kyiv in March as part of a new aid program approved on February 1. This announcement was made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on her microblog on X regarding the timing of the new tranche of aid to Ukraine.
“We have discussed further steps to provide Ukraine with a loan of 50 billion euros. The first payment of 4.5 billion euros will arrive in March,” she wrote, reflecting on her meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal.
On February 1, the European Union approved a budget support program for Ukraine amounting to 50 billion euros, which will remain in effect until 2027.
