Explosive Device Discovered Near MP Gurgen Arsenyan's Office, Set to Detonate on Timer
An extraordinary incident occurred today, February 22, in Yerevan. Around 20:30, the police of the Yerevan city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Arabkir division received operational information about an explosive device planted near building 33 on Gyulbenkian Street. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.
The media outlet also noted that MP Gurgen Arsenyan, the head of the United Labor Party, was present at the scene, and the explosive was found near his party's office. Fortunately, it did not detonate as employees removed it indoors.
Those present inside at the time mentioned that when the device was disarmed, G. Arsenyan stated that the explosive had been planted two days prior and was supposed to operate on a timer. When asked why the timer had not activated, G. Arsenyan replied that maybe the 'element' had malfunctioned.
The police and the investigation department are carrying out necessary operational intelligence and investigative joint actions to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
