EU to Allocate €6.3 Billion to Poland Next Week

The European Union is set to announce the allocation of €6.3 billion to Poland next week, as part of post-pandemic recovery funding, according to Bloomberg, citing sources.

The release of funds had been blocked by the European Commission due to complaints regarding judicial reforms implemented by the previous Polish government.

The €6.3 billion payment could be the first tranche of a total of €60 billion designated for Poland as part of the COVID-19 recovery stimulus program. Bloomberg notes that this move may help improve relations between the European Union and Poland's new government.

According to the agency's sources, a final decision has not yet been made. Following approval, confirmation will also be required from EU member states, which means actual disbursements may occur later.
