Bail and Guarantee: Director of 'Synergy' Company Released

The prosecutor has changed the detention measure applied to A.H., the head of a trading organization, in a criminal case under investigation by the Investigative Committee, on his own initiative on February 21, 2024. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia.

Considering that the accused has provided testimonies regarding circumstances that are essential to the criminal proceedings, confrontations have been conducted with his participation, and under such conditions, the likelihood of the accused engaging in unlawful behavior or interfering with the evidentiary process has significantly decreased, the prosecutor has instructed the implementing body to apply combined alternative detention measures for the accused, including bail, a prohibition on leaving the country, and a guarantee.

It should be noted that on January 31 and February 15, 2024, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecutions against officials of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia under Article 441, Part 2, Point 4 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power or authority by an official or exceeding authority), as well as against the director of the trading organization and employees for complicity in the same act (Article 46-441, Part 2, Point 4 of the Criminal Code).

In this case, Ani Gevorgyan, the wife of the brother of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, and Lili Mkryan were also detained. The members of the parliamentary faction of the ruling party submitted a guarantee to change the detention measures for the two women. The prosecutor has also changed the detention measure for the two women on his own initiative.

Later, in the same criminal case, house arrest measures were applied to former Minister of Economy Vahan Karobyan.
