Russia Issues Arrest Warrant for Lindsey Graham
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a warrant for the arrest of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on criminal charges, following the initiation of a new criminal case against him. This information is derived from the ministry's wanted database, as reported by TASS.
“American Lindsey Olin Graham, born July 9, 1955, is wanted under the criminal code,” states the agency's database, though it does not specify the exact charges. It has been confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Graham.
Law enforcement sources told TASS that a new criminal case has been initiated concerning the U.S. senator; however, the precise charges have not been disclosed. The media notes that Senator Graham is well-known for his anti-Russian stance, having suggested various options for tightening sanctions against Russia.
On February 18, he once again proposed that Russia be included in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism as compiled by the U.S., using the death of Alexei Navalny as a pretext. Earlier, on February 20, Rosfinmonitoring had included Graham on its list of terrorists and extremists. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had previously issued an arrest warrant for him last May, following a directive by the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, to initiate a criminal case based on Graham's anti-Russian statements.
