Dutch Court Rejects Russian Appeal in Yukos Case
Julya
The Amsterdam Court of Appeal in the Netherlands has rejected the Russian Federation's appeal in the Yukos case, which mandates that Russia must pay $50 billion to former shareholders of the dissolved oil company.
It is worth noting that in the early 2000s, political disagreements between Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Vladimir Putin led to various criminal cases against Yukos Oil in Russia. The Russian government froze Yukos Oil's shares, and legal actions and persecutions against the company continued, resulting in the devaluation of the company’s shares, and Yukos was declared bankrupt in 2006.
