Video: Marijuana and Ecstasy Found in Man's Backpack
On the evening of February 16, officers from the Vanadzor City Taroni Division of Police went to Batumi Street in Vanadzor. Suspected of illegal possession, use, and especially trafficking of drugs, they arrested two young men from Yerevan’s Shinararans Street at 23:45 and took them to the Taroni Division of Police.
During a personal search, 12 packets were discovered in the backpack of a 31-year-old man, 11 of which were wrapped in various candy papers, while one was in adhesive tape. According to his statement, five of these packets contained marijuana, and seven contained ecstasy. He added that the drugs were his and had been acquired through a Telegram channel, retrieved the previous afternoon from a hiding place near 52 Admiral Isakov Street in the capital.
According to preliminary information, the 31-year-old young man was traveling to Vanadzor with his 28-year-old friend in his vehicle with the intention of selling the purchased drugs through Telegram. Before settling in at a hotel, they managed to place drug-filled packets in several designed hiding spots around parts of Vanadzor.
The 31-year-old expressed willingness to show the hiding place containing the 12 packets filled with marijuana. He also stated that he had used drugs in the hotel and offered some to his friend, while the remaining drugs were still in the hotel’s cupboard.
The young men were also found in possession of mobile phones, which were confiscated. Relevant documents were prepared and the young men were presented to the Lori Regional Investigative Department, where a criminal case was initiated. Both have been transferred to a detention facility. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances.
